Monitoring and Auditing Services

BPS can monitor and audit the financial accountings and records of an individual acting in a fiduciary capacity such as an Agent under a Durable Power of Attorney to ensure that the agent or family member is fulfilling their duties and that their financial records are being kept appropriately.  We will randomly audit transactions to ensure that the agent has back up documentation and receipts.  This service can be provided monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually.

As you know, the financial power of attorney document is the most abused tool by individuals who commit financial exploitation of an at-risk adult.  If you draft Durable Financial Power of Attorney documents for your clients, consider adding an auditing and monitoring section. We feel this is a great way to help ensure that your clients are not naming untrustworthy individuals as POA and will give you and your client’s greater peace of mind knowing that everything is being handled appropriately before any possible financial abuse has been committed.
