Representative Payee Services
Benefit Payee Services is a Social Security approved organizational payee for individuals who receive social security income or benefits.
Requirements for our Representative Payee Program:
Due to Social Security regulations, we can not charge a fee out of a person’s social security benefits to be their payee. Therefore, in order for BPS to become the rep payee, the following criteria have to be met:
- The person has to have some other form of income or assets other than Social Security OR
- Someone else has to agree to pay our monthly fee which could include a family member, friend, a Trust or service agency.
Representative Payee services may include:
- Collecting SSI, SSDI or SSA income
- Bill paying
- Reconcile bank statements
- Budgeting and cash flow management
- Prepare annual SSA accounting
- Medical claims management
- Coordination of outside services
- Negotiate with creditors to reduce debt
- Track income and expenses for budgeting and tax deduction reporting
- Provide user-friendly financial reports
- Assistance with organizing information for tax return preparation
- Interface with support team including family and other professionals
- Capture all important personal information (financial, legal, insurance, credit cards, investments) and ensure this data is readily available when needed
- Referrals to other service providers and professionals when needed
